The Pink Ribbon Foundation is delighted to congratulate Jon Henriques on successfully completing the London Marathon as part of the charity's first-ever official Team Pink Ribbon.
Having secured one of the Foundation's inaugural charity places, Jon took on the challenge in support of his aunt, who has been affected by breast cancer.
What made the achievement even more special was that it became a true family effort. Jon ran alongside his brother and sister, with each sibling fundraising for causes close to their hearts. Jon's brother ran in support of St Catherine's Hospice, while his sister, having secured her own ballot place, chose to split her fundraising efforts between both charities.
Speaking about his motivation, Jon said:
"Deciding to run the London Marathon and raise money and awareness for the Pink Ribbon Foundation was a no-brainer for me – being able to give back and make a difference after the amazing support they gave my aunty when she was diagnosed with breast cancer."
After months of training and preparation, all three siblings crossed the finish line with impressive times:
- Jon – 4 hours 20 minutes
- Sophie – 4 hours 51 minutes
- Anthony – 5 hours 4 minutes
Their achievement is a wonderful example of the power of family, determination and fundraising, helping to raise awareness and support for people affected by breast cancer.
Everyone at the Pink Ribbon Foundation would like to congratulate Jon and his family on their fantastic accomplishment and thank them for their support.
(The Foundation would also like to thank Akin Okusami for kindly personalising the Team Pink Ribbon running vests and t-shirts worn by the charity's marathon runners).
