The Challenge
On Tuesday 24th October 2023, colleagues at MERLYN will be grabbing their walking shoes as they collectively endeavour to walk 1 million steps in 24-hours to raise vital funds for The Pink Ribbon Foundation.
The team is taking on the challenge during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and hopes to raise £10,000 for the charity. Employees will be wearing their favourite piece of pink clothing as they work together to run, jog, skip or even hop their way to the target - and MERLYN will donate £75 for every colleague who participates.
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in women in the UK, yet over a third (39%) of women in the UK* do not check their breasts regularly for potential signs of breast cancer so building awareness remains vital because early detection increases the chances of fighting and surviving the disease. The shower is considered the ideal place to check for any lumps or changes. By supporting the Pink Ribbon Foundation, MERLYN hopes to encourage more people to normalise their breast check routine, and make it part of their daily and weekly shower ritual.
Help MERLYN reach their goal and build awareness around the importance of self-examination this October by donating whatever you can. Every penny raised will go directly to The Pink Ribbon Foundation and any funds raised in Ireland will be granted by the charity to Cois Nore Cancer support in Kilkenny - so all money raised in Ireland, will stay in Ireland.
