  • Our very own Lisa Allen is taking on a skydive to support those living with breast cancer

Our very own Lisa Allen is taking on a skydive to support those living with breast cancer

Anyone that knows Lisa, knows that she likes her feet firmly on terra firma, quite simply she does not have a head for heights.  Indeed, even really tall rollercoasters bring about blind panic and fear, which makes it even more amazing that she wants to take on a 10,00+ft skydive for charity! As Head of Partnerships, PR and Events at the Pink Ribbon Foundation, it is Lisa who helps may brave individuals organise their very own jump to support our vital work. Having heard all their stories over the years with everyone raving about this life changing experience, Lisa has decided that it’s time to see what all the fuss is, but only because she can also raise some serious cash to fight cancer too!  Plus there’s the bonus of being strapped to a handsome (probably much younger) man – wants not to love!?! Already Lisa is amazed at the support shown via her fundraising page (which can be found here: with many corporate companies already making large donations, such as Hastings Direct (insurePink) and Zenith Hygiene. Coupled with support from very generous individuals, Lisa has set an ambitious fundraising target of £3,000 although has said that she would love to hit £5,000! We wish her lots of luck and will share her progress and photos / video from the day.

If you want to take on a skydive for the Pink Ribbon Foundation, please send an email to Lisa and she can help you organise it:

You can jump at any time of the year and there are airfields all over the UK. What’s more if you raise £400 your jump is free!

  • North Staffs Battalion Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association

North Staffs Battalion Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association

A massive thank you to the North Staffs Battalion Boys’ Brigade and Girls’ Association for their wonderful donation of £200!

The North Staff Battalion B.B./GA have a camp each year in August when young people from around the area spend a week together along with their officers having fun, getting to know each other and learning more about Christianity.

As is custom, they decide on a charity to raise money for during the course of the week and in 2017 they decided to support a breast cancer charity since the daughter of one of their ex-officers was found to be suffering from the disease and needed a mastectomy.

The camp at Kirkham near Blackpool was attended by 20 young people aged between 11yrs and 18yrs and 20 officers (18yrs + ) and the money was raised mainly through a very popular tuck shop, where people bought their sweets, drinks and chocolate and were gently encouraged to put their change (or some of it) into the collecting tin. Many of the youngsters put their own donations in too.

The result was a very generous £200 donation to the Pink Ribbon Foundation which will be put to good use and help others suffering from the disease.

Best friend organises disco to support friend through cancer treatment

On the 27 October 2017 Sophie organised an 80’s and 90’s disco to raise money for the Pink Ribbon Foundation.  Her best friend Jo was diagnosed with breast cancer on the 11 May at the young age of 37 years and with two young children, both under the age of 5 years, Sophie wanted to organise a fun evening for her friend and raise money for a cause which was so relevant to the friends and family affected by Jo’s diagnosis.  Living at Ashbourne Golf Club, with her husband who is the food and beverage manager, it seemed the obvious venue to Sophie for the fundraising event.  Over 180 guests brought tickets to attend and were treated to a disco, food and drink and an amazing raffle which was heavily supported by local businesses and over £2,800 was raised on the night for the Pink Ribbon Foundation!  Jo chose the playlist and dressed up as a Ghostbuster and the evening gave her a real boost and the strength to continue with her treatment and fight the disease.  We thank everyone who attended the party and supported the raffle and we wish Jo all the best for the future.

  • King Cole does Bake Off

    King Cole does Bake Off

On Friday 20 October the staff at King Cole Limited held a PINK fun day to raise even more money for their charity partner the Pink Ribbon Foundation.  Mike the Director of the company did a fantastic job of judging all the cake entries with comments like: “avoid this one if you have dodgy teeth”, “remarkably gooey” and “nice crispy base here, no soggy bottom, I’m definitely coming back to that one”! He even had a go at making a cake himself and the whole team were very proud of his efforts, even though he referred to it as a monstrosity!!

Along with donations for wearing pink and a raffle to win some chocolates, they managed to raise an amazing £154.64 which Mike has generously doubled on behalf of the company, making a grand total of £309.28!  This is in addition to the money that they raise as a corporate partner by marketing and selling their knitting patterns using the charity name and logos and making a donation per pattern sold throughout the year.  We thank the whole team for their amazing support and their continued fight against breast cancer.

  • The Mayor of Hounslow made a 13,000 ft freefall parachute jump for charity

The Mayor of Hounslow made a 13,000 ft freefall parachute jump for charity

The Mayor of Hounslow reached new heights for charity as she made a 13,000 feet freefall parachute jump at Brackley Airfield, Northants on Monday.

Councillor Sue Sampson took part in the sponsored jump in aid of one of her chosen charities, Pink Ribbon Foundation. With the summer sunshine behind her, the Mayor rose to her challenge and enjoyed every minute of it.

She said: “It was an exhilarating experience. I was not nervous until I saw my son Liam’s face as he was about to jump! It was then a case of what am I doing?! But as I reached the door of the air craft- I thought, well, there’s no going back now and I jumped. I am so glad to have done this and yes, I would do it again. You struggle to find a single word that sums up the experience as it is like potentially staring death in the face, but it was something I will never forget.”

So far, the Mayor and her team have raised over £4,000 with donations still flying in. People can still donate, visit:…/showFundraiserProfilePage…

The Mayor added: “Pink Ribbon Foundation- a breast cancer charity is one of my two chosen charities along with Refuge so the funds we raise are so important. I want to thank all the staff at Brackley Airfield plus Jim Meehan and Andy Bell of SkyHeld Cameras, my cameramen for the day who filmed the jump. It was a great day and who better to do this for than for charity, the Pink Ribbon Foundation.”

The parachute jump has kick-started what promises to be a busy year of fundraising for the Mayor. Just as her feet have touched the ground again, she will be off on another fundraiser, this time on foot. Walk4Refuge will see the Mayor joining other walkers in crossing four of London’s iconic bridges, Tower Bridge, Southwark Bridge, Millennium Bridge and Westminster Bridge on Sunday 9 September. Details of how to donate or join the Mayor team on the walk, can be found by visiting
