Celebrities SHOOT4PINK in support of the Pink Ribbon Foundation
The Pink Ribbon Foundation announced a new partnership with Netball Superleague team London Pulse at the weekend and officially launched the charities #SHOOT4PINK initiative. The partnership saw the first annual celebrity and pro netball match, which took place at the Copper Box Arena on the afternoon of Saturday 27 April before London Pulse took on Loughborough Lightning Netball Superleague in Round 17 of the Superleague.
Hosted by Clare Balding, SHOOT4PINK was the Foundation’s first annual celebrity and pro netball match and many of the charity’s celebrity supporters signed up to take part including Jess Impiazzi, Katya Jones, Collette Cooper, Lizzie Cundy, Nina Wadia, Michelle Collins, Natasha Grano, Brenda Edwards, Nadia Essex, Sally Morgan, Freja Budd, Sarah Mulindwa and Emily Warburton-Adams.
The Pink Ribbon Foundation were keen to stress that no previous experience or knowledge of the game was required; they simply wanted individuals who were keen to take part in an exciting sporting event which raised much needed awareness and money to fight breast cancer, which will affect 1 in 8 women during their lifetime.
Two teams went head-to-head in the SHOOT4PINK match, with the teams being a mix of pro netball players from the London Pulse U21’s squad and celebrities. Press and media attended and covered the event and there was a VIP area for photo call opportunities and media interviews. During the day there were also bucket collections for the Foundation.
Lisa Allen, Head of Corporate Partnerships, PR and Events at the Pink Ribbon Foundation said, “The Pink Ribbon Foundation want to keep women fit and healthy and increase breast awareness. It has been proven that a healthy diet and exercise can reduce the risk of breast cancer by up to a third, so our new partnership with London Pulse is not only relevant, it will also enable us to promote this message in a fun and engaging way. We are very excited to be working with Natalie and everyone at London Pulse and look forward to our future FUNdraising events and initiatives”.
Natalie Seaton, CEO of London Pulse said, “London Pulse are delighted to partner with the Pink Ribbon Foundation. The promotion of women’s health and fitness are paramount in our long-term vision for the future of London Pulse. Promoting breast awareness through our elite athletes and netball to raise awareness in conjunction with the Pink Ribbon Foundation is a positive and proactive message to all our London Pulse fans and followers”.
